Prof. Philippe Büscher is the head of the Unit of Parasite Diagnostics. He is specialised in the development, evaluation and production of diagnostic tests for Human and Animal African Trypanosomiasis. His unit works in close collaboration with partners in endemic countries. The expertise of the Unit in diagnosis and stage determination is regularly appealed for by other groups that conduct clinical trials on novel drugs and drug combinations in Human African Trypanosomiasis. Philippe Büscher participates in the World Health Organisation Human African Trypanosomiasis Network, the World Health Organisation Steering Committee on Human African Trypanosomiasis and in the East African Network for Trypanosomiasis.
Stijn Deborggraeve is a PhD student involved in the development of molecular diagnostic tests for African Trypanosomiasis, Leishmaniasis and Chagas disease.
Nicolas Bébronne is a technician with expertise in management of field laboratories and technology transfer in Asia and Africa.
Jean-Claude Dujardin is the head of the Unit of Molecular Parasitology at Institute of Tropical Medicine and specialised in structure, dynamics and function of parasite genome in natural populations. He is an expert in molecular diagnostics and epidemiology. He has been co-ordinator in several European Commission projects and he co-ordinates presently two projects on /Leishmania/ and participates in another European Commission project.
Gert Van der Auwera is a post-doctoral researcher currently involved in the sequencing project within the /Leishmania/genotyping project.
